Religious Freedom Day 2025

Since 1993, our presidents have honored January sixteenth as “Religious Freedom Day,” encouraging Americans to observe the day through events and activities at home, in schools, and in places of worship. Of course, students are free to speak about their faith at school every day thanks to the First Amendment, but today is a great opportunity for teachers to give students a civics lesson about their constitutional rights.

Families should be their children’s first teachers about our constitutionally guaranteed rights, including our religious freedom. Teaching children how to respectfully discuss and defend their rights and beliefs, even in public schools, is an incredible investment with phenomenal returns. Today is a great time for all of us—young and old alike—to celebrate the religious freedom we enjoy!
