Reporter Benjamin Ryan broke the news that the US Department of Education withdrew a proposed rule that would have overruled state bans on biological males competing in female-only sports, and vice-versa. The rule would have determined who can participate in sports based on gender identity rather than biological sex. The DOE was subjected to multiple lawsuits and overwhelmingly negative comments over the proposed rule and as a result backed way from the proposal.
The US Department of Education has no business overruling the laws established by duly elected state legislatures. This small victory illustrates the urgent need to rein in the DOE and allow states and local districts to direct their educational institutions in accordance with the desires of parents, who ultimately know what is best for their children.
