The Washington Stand reports that Senator Roger Marshall recently introduced a bill that would outlaw surgeries and hormone protocols for gender-confused minors and would punish doctors who perform them or even refer for such procedures with civil penalties of up to one hundred thousand dollars. The bill is titled the Safeguarding the Overall Protection of Minors Act or “STOP Act.” Earlier this month the UK joined other European countries in banning puberty blockers for minors.
Since many states, including Wisconsin, have failed to enact protections for minors, federal officials are looking to take action to prohibit these dangerous and experimental procedures that have life-long consequences. In Wisconsin, dozens of children have undergone surgeries and so-called “gender-affirming” hormone protocols. In protecting minors, Europe is ahead of us.
