On Monday, the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments for and against enforcing the state’s pre-Roe law prohibiting most abortions. The law was nullified by Roe, but was never revoked by the legislature or voters. One of the court’s liberal justices said the attorney defending the law was asking them to sign a “death warrant” for women and children in Wisconsin. The AP reported that the two-hour session amounted to little more than political theater.

The unfortunate reality is that Wisconsin’s current laws are a “death warrant” for thousands of babies each year who are killed in the womb. Reinstating a law prohibiting abortion and respecting every person’s right to life is the only policy that does not promote death. We pray our Supreme Court justices will understand that truth and uphold the original law.
