Wisconsin clerks have received more than 300,000 absentee ballots for the upcoming presidential election. While lower than the pandemic-era 2020 turnout, it surpasses the absentee return rate from the 2016 election. As of last week, the Wisconsin Elections Commission reported that over 590,000 absentee ballots had been sent out, with about 52% returned so far.

Early in-person or absentee voting is a great way to ensure voters can cast their ballot despite busy schedules or unforeseen emergencies that may conflict with election day. As a friend has said, “casting a legal vote any time is better than taking a chance that you might not be able to cast a vote at all.”
