A recent report from the Institute of Family Studies found that as the percentage of married mothers declines in cities, violent crime rates rise exponentially in those same areas. They also found that for each ten-point increase in the percentage of single mothers, there is over a seven-point increase in the percentage of children in poverty in the city. In Wisconsin, over eighteen percent of households are headed by single mothers. In Milwaukee over sixty-nine percent of babies born in two thousand twenty-two were born to single mothers.
Studies such as these continue to confirm that marriage prior to childbearing is the best path for the future well-being of children. On the whole, children avoid crime and poverty, and achieve greater success in life when they are raised by their married dad-and-mom parents. Once again we see that God’s way is always the best way.
