Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty released a report last week revealing a concerning Voter ID loophole in Wisconsin law that would allow over one hundred and forty thousand individuals to submit absentee ballots without showing ID because they are classified as “indefinitely confined.” The rate of indefinitely confined individuals is one hundred and sixteen percent higher than it was in twenty sixteen.
Voters should not be able to independently determine whether they meet the requirements to claim they are indefinitely confined and can thus receive absentee ballots in perpetuity without providing a photo ID. The law requires a witness verification in lieu of a Voter ID, but that’s subject to gross fraud. This loophole must be addressed to ensure election integrity.
