Last week during her Presidential campaign, Vice-President Harris proposed banning “price gouging” in an attempt to counter the steep increase in prices some companies implement after supply disruptions. This may be an attempt to counter the economic weakness of the Biden-Harris administration, under which the cost of groceries and other necessities has risen by approximately nineteen percent.

Increased costs have left families across our state struggling to make ends meet. However, government artificially dampening prices will most likely increase inflation, not competition. Our free enterprise system works best when healthy competition in the market is encouraged rather than hampered by government regulation.
