A week from today is the last opportunity Wisconsin voters have to cast a ballot in the fall partisan primary. Absentee ballots by mail can still be requested this week, and early in-person voting ends in most communities this Friday. Ballots statewide will have two binding referenda questions that, if passed, will amend our state constitution related to the power of the purse and whether the governor has sole discretion in how federal funds he or she accepts on behalf of the state are spent.

These referenda questions are about who has the power to spend taxpayer money—since all the money any level or unit of government has comes from taxpayers. We strongly encourage all voters to visit myvote.wi.gov to see exactly what’s on your ballot, including the wording of these questions. Then cast a knowledgeable, responsible vote.
