The Wisconsin legislature has announced a committee to study artificial intelligence or AI. Republican Senator Julian Bradley is the chair and has appointed three other legislators and eight professionals from a variety of professions. Senator Bradley says the committee will travel throughout the state to consider how the new technology will impact workforce, healthcare, law enforcement, government, and consumer protection.
Like all technology, AI can be used for good or for ill. Hopefully, this study committee will offer some excellent policy recommendations so that we harness the good while deterring the bad. Even more important is for families to do some research on AI and help family members with identifying AI and establishing guidelines for when and how to use AI for good purposes.
