Republicans on a Tennessee legislative committee last week approved a bill known as a Baby Olivia law that would require that public school children in classes with human growth, development, and/or sexuality instruction, quote, “must include the presentation of a high-quality, computer-generated animation or high-definition ultrasound of at least three minutes… that shows the development of the brain, heart, sex organs, and other vital organs in early fetal development.”
This is known as a Baby Olivia bill because of a video produced by Live Action entitled “Meet Baby Olivia.” A number of states are proposing these laws to help change the culture regarding abortion. Seeing this type of life-affirming video is powerful, especially for children and youth. Wisconsin should require this as part of our human growth and development programs.
