A recent Suffolk University/USA poll found that nearly forty percent of Americans believe present day humans are exactly as they were created by God and did not experience evolution. While more than half of Americans have accepted some level of evolution, this poll shows over sixty percent of Americans believe God had a partial or exclusive hand in the state of humanity today. Just under fifty-three percent of Americans believe that humans today are either exclusively or partially due to evolution.
These numbers are a bit surprising because research has seemed to show that increased exposure to college-education and declining levels of religious belief have had a major impact on Americans’ belief in evolution. What’s significant here is the reality that what a person believes about origins forms the foundation of that person’s all-important worldview.
