Earlier this month, US District Court for the District of Idaho judge David Nye upheld Idaho’s law that requires students with gender dysphoria to use the bathrooms and locker rooms based on their biological sex rather than their alleged gender identity. Nye wrote, quote, “The state of Idaho has an interest in protecting the privacy and safety of its youth while at school. It has written a law to achieve that goal…,” adding that it is the court’s duty to interpret the law, not make the law.
Wisconsin also has an interest in protecting the privacy and safety of its youth while at school. That’s why the legislature should pass, and the governor should sign, the Protect Women’s Sports bills. The bills not only ensure fair athletic competitions by keeping biological males out of girls’ sports, but they also help keep biological males out of girls’ locker rooms.
