Students in Wisconsin’s parental choice programs outperformed public school students across a range of test results released by DPI earlier this week. Because state law financially restricts who participates in a choice program, these students are some of the most economically disadvantaged students in the state. Choice students in Milwaukee and Racine outscore Milwaukee and Racine public students from all income levels on academic proficiency test, and choice students outscore students from all income levels on college-readiness ACT tests.
These results publicized by School Choice Wisconsin highlight that the private schools participating in the choice programs are giving parents what they want and doing well at educating these students. The recent funding increase in the budget for choice programs will offer a great return on investment.
