Earlier this week several Wisconsin Republican legislators introduced a bill known as the “Help Not Harm Bill.” The bill prohibits health care providers from performing surgeries on minors or prescribing cross-sex hormones or puberty blockers for minors dealing with gender confusion. Enforcement of the law would be handled by the various state board’s that issue the professional licenses for the various types of health care providers.
Responsible lawmakers understand that it is harmful not helpful to minors to surgically remove perfectly healthy body parts or to use drugs to interfere with normal physiological development. The short-term and long-term effects are significant and often irreversible. This bill puts the brakes on doctors complicit in these atrocities.
