Christian Post reports that Hillsdale College in Michigan is distributing free of charge an American history curriculum known as The Seventeen Seventy-Six Curriculum. Private and public schools, as well as home-school families are using the materials. The program offers lesson plans that guide teachers on how to instruct students on topics related to American history and civics and relies heavily on primary source documents and seeks to help students uncover or discover the truth of our nation’s history.
With revisionist history alive and well in so many textbooks and therefore in so many classrooms, this program is extremely welcome. Today primary source documents are either not used at all or are so severely edited as to basically change the meaning. We preserve our freedom when we know our history. Bravo, Hillsdale!
