Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.

Have you ever heard Jesus’ parable of the man who sells all that he has to buy a field? And he does so because he knows there is a treasure hidden in that field. The man in the parable gained the goal of his life. He was not a man to be pitied. He was filled with joy and rich beyond belief. He was satisfied. The point to this parable is that getting the kingdom of Heaven far outweighs anything we have to give up. So the question for us today is this: Are we giving up our lives to serve God? Are we using our time, our talent, our treasure to advance His kingdom? And if so, it’s not a sacrifice on our part. The man in the parable did what he did out of self-interest. And we’re not instructed to give up everything for no gain. In Matthew 6, Jesus tells us to lay up for ourselves treasures in Heaven. So let’s invest in the kingdom and share our faith with others!
