Today, I want to talk about a part of the Christmas story that is seldom talked about. In Luke chapter two, we read that Mary and Joseph took baby Jesus to present him in the temple. There was a man there called Simeon who had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would see the Savior of Israel before his death. When Simeon took Jesus into his arms, he immediately knew that this was the promised Christ and proclaimed, “for my eyes have seen Your salvation!” At that moment, a woman prophetess named Anna came up and began to thank God. Afterward, she continued to speak about Him to all those who had been looking for the Messiah. This Christmas season, let’s follow Simeon and Anna’s example by first thanking God for our salvation; and then let’s continue to share with those around us so that they too may receive eternal life.
