Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Let’s suppose I stood before a judge with fifty thousand parking tickets; and in my opportunity to speak, I asked the judge, “your Honor, would you please let me go? I promise I’ll be a perfect driver from now on.” Do you think that judge should declare me free? If he or she did, they couldn’t be considered a just judge. The reason I share this illustration is that it is the same decision God is faced with when looking at our sin. Yes, He loves us and doesn’t want to punish us; but on the other hand, He is just and must punish sin. Do you see the problem? Well, God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived an absolutely perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and all we have to do is put our trust in Jesus alone to be declared righteous in God’s sight. What amazing grace — that Jesus would do that for us! For more, visit our website at www.sharelife.today.
