Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
What is a mentor? Well, according to the dictionary, it is “a trusted counselor or guide.” If you are mentoring someone in how to be a better cook, you don’t just tell them how. You show them by standing next to them in the kitchen while they cook! This is exactly how we disciple others as Christians. Jesus shows us the perfect example in Mark 3 and Luke 6. When we compare these passages, we see that Jesus spent an entire night on a mountain in prayer; and that when He came down “He appointed the twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.” It was in the process of “being with Him” that they learned ministry and caught His vision. And then, they followed in His footsteps. We do this very thing in EE through On The Job Training, where we take our trainees out and share the Gospel with them. This is so important in order to teach those we disciple. Learn more at www.sharelife.today.
