I’ve been busy lately because I have an appraiser coming to my house later today. Since we made the appointment two weeks ago, I’ve been fixing broken things, cleaning dirty things, and bringing home improvement projects that have been on hold across the finish line.
Shortly, someone will arrive at my front door and will walk through my home. They will inspect it and then make a judgement of its value. That judgment will impact my future for good or bad.
The prophet Isaiah once told Hezekiah, a king of Israel, “Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.” That stark warning prompted the king to self-examination and prayer, which resulted in an extension of God’s mercy that wouldn’t have happened without an imposed deadline.
Whether you realize it or not, you also have an appraiser coming. It may not be today, but the Bible says we all have an appointment with death and after this the judgement. So set your house in order by redeeming the time.
