A boy visiting his grandfather’s farm noticed an abandoned barn which his grandfather had converted to a shooting range with lots of targets painted on the side. Drawing closer, the boy noticed a bullet hole in the center of each bull’s eye and asked his grandfather how he became such a good shot. The old-timer responded, “I just shoot at the old barn and wherever it hits, I draw a target around it.”
Maybe grandpa wasn’t such a great marksman after all, but at least he had a strategy for success, which is more than most of us can claim for our daily agenda.
The successful CEO or pastor of the thriving church didn’t get there by simply showing up and drifting aimlessly along until quitting time. Rather, they had a consistent, daily strategy to maximize their effectiveness.
