Leonard Ravenhill was a deep writer whose calling was to challenge God’s people to revival. This quote of his recently stood out to me, “The opportunity of a lifetime must be seized within the lifetime of the opportunity.”
He was likely referring to the fact that when God moves on the hearts of individuals, prompting them to revival, He also gives them a window of opportunity to respond. Scriptures tells us God will not strive with us indefinitely. He wants us to obey the first time He speaks.
The basic idea of seizing the opportunity of a lifetime within the lifetime of the opportunity can also have a broader application. The businessman who procrastinates on a great deal will soon discover it had an expiration date. The parent who was too busy to be there when their teen was making wrong decisions may have a lifetime of regret.
The point is this: When your opportunity of a lifetime comes, be ready to redeem the time.
