A man returned his new chainsaw to the store and complained, “You said this saw could cut 50 trees a day. I’ve only been able to cut 3 a day.” The clerk pulled the starter and, as it roared to life, the customer said, “Why is that chain turning and making all that noise?”
The customer had a powerful tool in his possession, but was simply scraping it against the tree as he had done with his hand saw. Sure, he would eventually cut down a few trees that way, but nowhere near what he would have been capable of had he taken the time to learn how to use the saw properly.
As Christians, many of us are also struggling through our days, powered by our own strength and wisdom. We get up at the last possible minute and rush out the door without spending time with God.
Tomorrow morning, purposely choose a chainsaw day, powered by first seeking God’s blessing and direction, so you’ll better redeem the time.
