Developmental Psychology – Seasons of Life

I recall taking a college course called “Developmental Psychology” which examined how humans develop psychologically through different stages of life. We had a series of guest lecturers who were specialists in development at different stages, such as early childhood, teen years, midlife, or old age.

We soon noticed every lecture began the same way. The early childhood specialist would state this was a “critical stage” because… The adolescent specialist also claimed to address a critical stage, as did the rest of the guests. After about the fifth guest speaker, someone asked the professor, “What stage of life is not a ‘critical stage’?”

That was a revelation moment for me that every stage of life matters. God’s assignments change with the different seasons of life. Our work and ministry may differ from one season to the next, but there will never be a time when God doesn’t have something specific for us to accomplish.

Remember, don’t be discouraged over the season you are in right now. Just determine how you’ll redeem the time.
