Leonard Ravenhill was one of the 20th century’s greatest prophetic voices. The focus of his ministry was calling the church of his day to revival. He often examined the reasons why revival is so uncommon in the modern church world.
He said, “Revival tarries because Christians are not eternity conscious. If we as Christians would live every moment under the eye of God, if we conducted our family life, worked at our trade, bought or sold our goods, prayed our prayers and gave our means in light of eternity we would have revival in our day. If preachers would preach every sermon with one eye on damned humanity and the other on the judgment seat—then we would have a holy ghost revival that would shake this earth and bring millions of eternity-bound souls to Jesus.”
I believe his comments were right on target. Most Christians will say they want revival, but very few of us will actually change our schedules enough to make it happen. Real revival requires we redeem the time.
