Time Well Spent

It’s 100 degrees outside. Everyone comes in for a cold drink and someone says, “My it’s hot out there.” Inevitably someone else in the group will say, “Yes, but it’s not the heat it’s the humidity.” If its winter and 0 degrees someone will always say, “But it’s not the cold, it’s the wind chill.” Why do some people always feel compelled to say that? Can’t it ever just be the heat or cold?

Maybe it just makes them feel good and they don’t know what else to say. If so, they might try feeling better by asking this question:

“When I think of time well spent, what is it I have accomplished?” In other words, what would I have to do today, in order to reach the end of my day with a sense of satisfaction that I have spent time doing what I needed to do, or what God wanted me to do.

Until you’ve taken time to answer that question you not ready to redeem the time.
