Can you believe anyone would actually name their daughter “diet coke?” A couple in Yorkshire England did. But the Coke’s probably weren’t doing it to be cute, since little “Diet” spelled DIOT was born in the year 1300.
The naming of children in our day is something people often do without much thought or consideration of the name’s consequence. But what we name our children can have an effect on their attitudes later in life and can impact how well they learn to redeem the time. In Bible days, much care was given to the meaning of names. Often names were given to inspire devotion to the Lord, character and determination.
Some of the names we’ve chosen for our children include, Sunshine, Summer, Joy, Joshua, Caleb and Christian.
Remember, by choosing a name that inspires character, you can start even before they are born, teaching your children to attempt great things for God and to redeem the time.
