The great wall of China stretches about 4,500 miles and was built entirely by hand. The Great Depression was the longest and worst period of unemployment in world history. Alexander the Great conquered the entire known world before he was 30 years old. And a great dane can weigh 175 pounds.
Those are some pretty impressive greats. But there are two other greats that are greater than all others. They are the great commandments of Christ, to love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself, and the Great Commission to take the Gospel to the whole world.
These two greats give us valuable insight into how to spend each moment of our day. When considering options of what to do with an unplanned evening, evaluate each possibility in terms of the great commission and the great commandment. You’ll be surprised at how much insight and direction can be gained by using these two reference points in determining how we should redeem the time.
