What Does Ezekiel 43:13 Teach About the Construction of the Temple?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

It talks about detailed information regarding the altar that will go in the Temple complex, every aspect of it. The altar is about two stories high. Ezekiel 43:15 says that the altar shall be four cubits and have four horns.

Ezekiel 43:17 says that the settle [i.e. ledge] shall be 14 cubits long and 14 cubits broad, etc. and the stairs shall look toward the east. The altar did not have stairs. Solomon’s Temple and the Tabernacle did not have stairs but a ramp that faced the south. The altar is to have a ramp from the south. There was a reason God instructed Moses to build the altar with a ramp leading up from the south. During the times of the Tabernacle in the first and second Temple, there was a lot of sun worship. So that there would be no worship of the sun, rising or setting, God put the ramp from the south going to the north going up the two stories to the top of the altar where all of the sacrifices would take place. If they made a ramp that faced east and went west, then when the sun went down, you could worship the sun; if it went west and faced east, you could worship the sun when it was coming up.

Ezekiel says that there were to be stairs facing the east. The name of the altar is Ariel which means Lion of Judah in Hebrew. When the priests in the coming Temple walk up the stairs to the top of the altar, they will face the Holy of Holies and will worship the Lion of Judah. They will literally worship the Son.
