Is the Melchizedek Prophecy Used by Catholics True Regarding the Bread and Wine for Communion the Real Body and Blood of Christ?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18) appears as the king and the prince of Salem. Salem is Jerusalem according to Psalm 76:2. It is the first mention of the holy city, Jerusalem. Abraham is there, and in comes the king or priest of Salem, Melchizedek. I believe that this is a preincarnate appearance of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the King, the High Priest, after the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7, 8); He will be our High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, not after the Levitical order.  He, the king, the high priest, comes out to honor Abraham. Abraham honors him by giving a portion of his wealth back to him.

The bread and the wine were brought by the king, not the priest. The text says, “Then Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine; he was a priest to God Most High.” It shows communion and fellowship. Many times in the Scriptures, you can see where they would sit around a meal. It is not talking about the blood or the body of Christ coming back into existence. It has nothing to do with the eucharist which is a false teaching from a false church. The eucharist will not become the blood or the body of Christ.

In 1 Corinthians 11, we (born-again Bible believers) are to use the time of communion for fellowship with others for the purpose of honoring Jesus Christ in His death, burial, resurrection, and His soon coming. It says that this is the bread which represents my body; the juice of the vine represents the blood that I am offering. It is not Jesus Christ and His flesh and His blood. We do not partake of that; it is cannibalistic.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
