How Do the Jews Know which Tribe They Belong to Since the Temple Was Destroyed in 70 A.D.?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

In 70 A.D., the Temple was destroyed in the city of Jerusalem by General Titus and the tenth Roman Legion as they marched down off of the Mount of Olives to the Temple Mount. It started to burn, and the Temple was destroyed. The Jews were then dispersed to the four corners of the earth.

Tradition, passed down from generation to generation, if it was kept at all. Essentially, they don’t know what tribe they belong to. There are some that talk about the lost tribes. In the Old Testament, it talks about how all of the tribes were back into Israel after the Jews returned to the land. They were all there. They weren’t lost but had been dispersed. The only way that they would have known would have been by keeping the family tree or tradition.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
