The people have just come out of the Tribulation period with seven years of judgment: one-half of the earth’s population is dead, the ocean is turned to blood, and all of the fish in the ocean have died; the grass, trees, etc. are burned up; and the water in lakes, ponds, rivers, etc. are bitter and undrinkable.
In Matthew 19:28, Jesus spoke to His disciples and told them that they will come into the “regeneration” when I am seated on the throne. This is the Kingdom period. Regeneration, “palingenesia” in Greek, means “Genesis again.” After He returns to set up His Kingdom, He will restore the earth the way it was at the time of the creation of the earth.
