Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!
First, the Rapture occurs, then the Tribulation starts with the unveiling of the first seal. The man on a white horse comes forth (Revelation 6:1) and brings a false peace to this earth – that is the Antichrist. He will establish the Revived Roman Empire in the city of Rome. He sets up the harlot church, the One World Church. The Tribulation period begins when the Antichrist confirms a peace treaty with the nation of Israel (Daniel 9:27). Then the seven seals occur. Then there are seven trumpet judgments followed by seven vial judgments. There are 21 judgments in the seven-year period of Tribulation.
The sixth trumpet judgment in Revelation 9:13-15 says, “And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.”
The sixth trumpet seems to relate to the final military conflict described in Revelation 16 when the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great River Euphrates, and its water dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East that were seen coming out of the mouth of the Dragon, Beast, and False Prophet. It also prepared the way for the three unclean spirits like frogs that were demonic spirits that performed signs and went abroad to the kings of the whole world to assemble them for the battle of the great day of God Almighty.
It is interesting that the Antichrist uses false signs, wonders, and miracles to bring the armies of the world to the city of Jerusalem.
At the sound of the sixth trumpet, John heard a voice coming from the horns of the golden altar that is before God. The sixth angel was then instructed to release the four angels bound by the Euphrates River. These four angels are clearly demons. Holy angels are not bound. The release of these four, minutely timed at a particular hour and day and month and year. They will kill a third of the world’s population.
Revelation 6:7-8 refers to the fourth seal, “And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” One-fourth of the earth’s population will be killed at that time.
In Revelation 9, as the sixth angel blows his trumpet, a third of the world’s population will be taken away. By this time, half of the Earth’s population will be taken away. Daniel 12 refers to the fact that this world has never seen this type of destruction before as well as in Matthew 24 when Christ talked about how this type of destruction has never been seen. Matthew 24:22 talks about how this time will need to be cut short or total devastation will be on the earth.
In Revelation 9:16, the loosening of the four angels, resulted in the release of the army of two hundred million mounted troops. Most interpreters do not take this number literally; I believe that you have to take it literally as you do with all of the numbers in Revelation. The figure represents an overwhelming military force.
The creatures released in Revelation 9 are creatures out of the abyss, the 200 million demons released at this point and time to bring destruction on the earth, taking away one third of the world’s population.
