Can You Explain the First 18 months of Peace of the Tribulation Period Mentioned in the Left Behind Series?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

The Left Behind series does not teach doctrine. It is a fictional novel. You don’t get your understanding from a fictional novel. There are some untruths in it. For example, the author doesn’t agree with me that there is not a second chance. The whole book is built on the premise that there is a second chance. Eighteen months is not in Scripture. He used literary license to embellish everything. It talks about the Antichrist coming from Romania; that is not necessarily true. I am a disciplinarian when it comes to the text: what does the text say? It doesn’t matter what anyone says, but what does the text say?

We don’t know how long it will be. The clock starts ticking on the Tribulation period when the Antichrist confirms the Peace Treaty. It could be 6 months, 12 months, or 18 months. My sanctified speculation is that it will be within the first six months. I say that because when the Antichrist confirms the Peace Treaty, he leaves Israel (Daniel 9:27) and goes to Rome, Italy, and sets up the false church. Daniel 11:40- 41 says that once the Peace Treaty is in place, the alignment of nations, the Islamic world, will attack Israel. I believe that it is six months or less because in order for the false church to be established in Rome, Italy, the Islamic world has to be wiped out. They will not co-exist with any religion anywhere in the world. Ezekiel 39:2-6 says that five-sixths of the attacking enemies of the Islamic world will be wiped out.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
