In Acts 1:6-7, Why Is the Kingdom “Not for Them to Know?”

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

In Acts 1:6-7, it is the 40 days after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. After this, He spent most of the 40 days before His ascension in Galilee. He went to the Sea of Galilee and spent time with His disciples. Over 500 people saw Him alive. When it was time for Him to ascend into the heavenlies, He came back to Jerusalem. He had been teaching His disciples things about the kingdom. “When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.”

We are not in the kingdom. The kingdom is not yet in place. Jesus Christ is not on His throne. He is not seated on the throne but at the right hand of the Father (Hebrews 1, 8, 10, 12). After His resurrection, He ascended into the heavenlies to the right hand of the Father. 1 John 2 says that He went there to intercede for you and me to be our special advocate.

In Revelation 12:10, the devil has access to the throne of God and accuses the brethren. When we sin after having come to know Christ as Lord and Savior, the devil is right there to tell God, day and night, about our sin.

Jesus Christ has not come back yet, and the kingdom is not set up. He had been teaching the disciples for 40 days about the kingdom, and what it will be like, but He says that He will not set it up right now. Jesus says that only His Father knows that.

In Daniel 7:13-14, “I saw the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man (Jesus Christ) came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of Days (God the Father), and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”

Matthew 24:31 said that there would be a sign: you will see Me coming in the clouds. When He comes in the clouds, then God the Father will give Him the kingdom which will be forever.

This is what Christ is referring to in Acts 1. This is why He would not set up the kingdom at that time.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
