How Do You Explain that the Trumpet Mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:52 Is Not the Same as the Trumpet Mentioned in Revelation 10:7?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

There are seven trumpet judgments that will take place during the seven-year Tribulation period (Revelation 8, 9, and 11). In Revelation 11, the last trumpet is not the time of the Rapture. After these judgments, there will be seven more judgments, the seven vial judgments (Revelation 16). These will be the worst of all of the judgments to take place. The last six months of the Tribulation period will be when the seven vial judgments take place.

In 1 Corinthians 15:51-53, the trumpet mentioned is the last trump for the Church. Since there is no judgment for the Church after this trumpet sounds, we could not be talking about the same trumpets mentioned in Revelation. “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we all be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 also explains this passage. The trump of God sounds, and we are caught up to meet Him in the air. This is the trump, the last trump for the Church.

The trump sound in Revelation 10:7 is the trumpet sound found in Matthew 24:31. Jesus Christ returns to the Mount of Olives in the city of Jerusalem, and He says to the angel to take your trumpet and blow, calling for the Jews to come into Jerusalem. The trumpet, the shofar, was used in Old Testament times to call for a solemn assembly to bring the Jews together to hear the Word of God. This is exactly what will happen at the end of the Tribulation period.

Matthew 24:30 says that Jesus Christ shall appear in the clouds, an indication that He is coming back to receive the Kingdom from God the Father (Daniel 7:13-14). He tells the angel to blow the trumpet to call all of the Jews to Jerusalem to have a solemn assembly where Jesus Christ will start to teach.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
