Why Do You Not Use the Term “Beast” or “Man of Lawlessness,” but Use the Term “Antichrist” when Preaching and Teaching about the Tribulation and Endtime Events?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

I never ignore the warning of Revelation 22:18 to not add to or take away from the Word of God. This is an exhortation that I pay very close attention to.

In 1 John 2:18, “Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.” It is talking about one antichrist. It is the name of the individual who will be energized by Satan and is referred to in Revelation as the beast that comes up out of the sea. The term “beast” is used 42 times in Revelation, referring to the antichrist or the beast out of the sea.

I use the terms interchangeably, “antichrist” and “beast,” because this individual has 27 different names:

  • In Daniel 7:8, the antichrist is referred to as the little horn.
  • In Daniel 9:26, the antichrist is referred to as the prince that shall come.
  • In Daniel 11:36, he is referred to as the willful king.
  • Jesus Christ referred to him as the false Messiah in Matthew 24.
  • In 2 Thessalonians 2, the Apostle Paul uses three terms: the wicked one, the son of perdition, and the man of sin.

These are just a few of the 27 different names in God’s Word to refer to this individual, energized by Satan to be a member of the Satanic trinity who will do everything that he possibly can to replicate Christ, the true Messiah.

When we add up all of this Scripture, we see that everything fits like a hand in a glove.

In 2 Peter 1:20, it says that there is no prophecy of private interpretation. We have to add all of the Scriptures and all the prophetic passages together to come to our conclusions.

There are other names other than “beast,” or “man of lawlessness,” or “antichrist” in the Word of God pertaining to this individual, this world dictator who will come to power and put together a peace agreement between the Jews and her neighbors, establishing a false pseudo peace in the seven-year period of time.

Ultimately, the antichrist will be taken along with the false prophet and Satan (Revelation 19) and will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. In Revelation 20, the one who energizes the beast or antichrist and the false prophet (Satan) will be thrown into the bottomless pit for 1,000 years. He will be released for a short period of time and then will be cast with the antichrist and the false prophet into the Lake of Fire forever.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
