Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!
During the Holocaust of World War II, there were 18 million Jews on the Earth. One-third were killed during the war, Six million.
In Zechariah 13:8, it says that two-thirds, two of every three Jews, will be killed during the Tribulation period. There will be those who are compatriots with the antichrist who will go out and try to kill them when Satan is thrown out of the heavenlies (Revelation 12). All of the evil angels that come out of the first and second heaven with him and out of the bottomless pit (Revelation 9) will try to attack and wipe the Jews off of the face of the Earth. They know that if they can eliminate the Jews that God will fail and be incapable of keeping His promises such as the Abrahamic Covenant (The Jews will be a nation forever), the Land Covenant (The Jews will have ten times the land than they have now), the Davidic Covenant (The Jews will have a temple with a Messiah ruling from the temple), and the New Covenant (Jesus Christ will have a relationship with all of the Jewish people during the Millennial Kingdom). Then, Satan would become God which was his desire to rise above God (Isaiah 14). This is the time of the worst Holocaust ever to take place. This is during the Tribulation period. It happened during the Tribulation period according to its context. Zechariah 13:8 comes between chapters 12 and 14 of Zechariah. When you look at chapter 12, you see that Jerusalem will become a cup of trembling and a burdensome stone (Zechariah 12:2-3). Then, in Zechariah 14:2 you see all of the nations of the world gathering in Jerusalem, and in Zechariah 14:4, Jesus Christ steps back onto the Mount of Olives with the Battle of Armageddon following. In the context, Zechariah 13:8 is talking about the Tribulation period when the worst Holocaust will occur.
