Why Do So Many Christians Avoid Talking About the Rapture and Don’t Look Forward to Going to Be with Jesus?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

There is only one reason why Jesus Christ has not come back. We are quickly approaching the time of the Rapture of the Church. Everything is set; no prophecy has to be fulfilled.

Your friends are not excited about the Rapture because they are not studying prophecy. You are. We try to help our friends study God’s Word. Your friends may be believers, but they are only interested in being saved so they don’t go to Hell. Being saved is looking for the return of Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul has run the race, finished the course, kept the faith, and been solid (2 Timothy 4:7). In 2 Timothy 4:8, “There is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only but unto all them also that love his appearing.”  This is what we need to do.

John understands all that is going to happen, and he prays, “Even so come, Lord Jesus.”

The Apostle Paul, throughout his thirty years of ministry and all of his battles he went through to get the Gospel message out said, “I get a crown of righteousness because I look forward to the return of Jesus Christ.”

For anyone who knows Jesus Christ, the number one priority should be to look to the time when they can be with Jesus Christ. So many of us look at this world and our ambitions, our attitudes, and our attractions to it. We have to get our focus away from this world and on Jesus Christ.

Paul said that he had gotten everything accomplished, and he pressed to the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3).

They are not spending much time in the Word. Encourage them to be in the Word. Have a home Bible study where they can come in a relaxed attitude with refreshments. If you know Bible prophecy well enough, you can go to different locations, newspapers, and go to the prophetic scenario laid out in God’s Word about Libya or the European Union or the building of the temple or the alignment of the nations or the peace process.  All of this is found in the prophetic scenario found in God’s Word.

I don’t know why they would not want to look to heaven. A lot of people when they get sick say to pray for me because I am about to die. If you ever hear about me having a terminal illness, don’t pray for me to get healed. Pray for my family that they would have grace and understanding. Pray for the medical people that are trying to take care of me. I don’t want to be healed. If God wants me to go home with Him, I want to go as soon as possible. I’m not really excited about going through the process of getting to heaven, but I know that as soon as I die that the angels will gather me up and take me into His presence.  I am looking forward to it, as you are.

Many Christians lose sight about what is going to happen in the future because they take their eyes off of the main prize. The Apostle Paul said that he keeps his eyes on the prize of the high calling. As you keep your eyes on the Lord’s return, you will be able to pick up your crown of righteousness when you get to heaven. Keep your eyes on the prize and not what is going on around us. God lays out His game plan for us. He lays out the plan for us so that we will be comforted as we hear these words. We know what is going to taking place and happen.  Keep your eyes on the prize and live a holy life in an unholy world. This should be our hunger. If we have accepted what Christ has done, we should live purely and productively until He comes.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
