Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!
I certainly do. That is the premillennial, dispensational understanding of God’s plan for the future.
The Jewish people have four promises:
- that they will be a nation forever,
- that they will have a piece of real estate that God will give them forever,
- that they will have a king, a Messiah, who will sit in the temple that He builds on the Temple Mount in the city of Jerusalem and will rule and reigns from forever
- that the New Covenant will be given to them (Jeremiah 31:31)
God has given these promises that must be fulfilled. If the church takes the place of the Jewish people, then those promises that God made to the Jews have to be negated. That would make God a liar; God is not a liar. In fact, if I thought that this was the case, I would never trust Him as my Lord and Savior. How could I have faith that He would be truthful and keep His promises to me?
There is a difference between the Church (God’s people who come to know Him as Lord and Savior between the time of Pentecost [Acts 2] and the rapture of the church) and the Jewish nation. This is the only time people become Christians. The Gentiles and Jews who come to know Christ are made one (Ephesians 2:11ff) and will be Christians who go at the rapture of the church and will be married to Jesus Christ at the Marriage celebration of the Lamb (Revelation 19:7-9).
God has put the Jewish people on the shelf. He has not negated His promises. He will fulfill His promises to them in the Tribulation and Millennial Kingdom. The Tribulation is basically used to bring the Jews to Him.
In Ezekiel, the Lord says 72 times that “they shall know that I am the Lord.” They will know that He is the Messiah. All of the judgments that will come in the seven-year period of time are focused mainly on the Jewish people to bring them to Jesus Christ. They are blinded in part now (Romans 11:25) and are temporarily blinded until Jesus Christ does come back. His program will be reinstituted.
If Jews come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior today, they would no longer be known as Jews but Christians.
Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
