Revelation 6 talks about the time period of a sealed judgment on the Earth, the fourth seal, and one fourth of the Earth’s population will be killed. At our current population, that would be more than 1.7 billion killed in the first half of the Tribulation period. Later, at the midway point of the Tribulation, Revelation 12:7, there will be a battle in the heavenlies between the good angels led by Michael, the archangel, and the evil angels, led by Satan. The evil angels will be cast upon the Earth and will try to kill as many Jews as they possibly can. They would like to kill all of the Jews, but if they do that, then God fails. He would not be able to keep His promises to the Jewish people – that they would be a nation forever, that they would have a piece of real estate, and that they would have a temple in Jerusalem with the Messiah sitting on the Holy of Holies on the throne and be their King forever. If the Jews are all killed, then God would fail, and Satan would come to power. On the way down after being cast out of the first and second heaven, Satan will open the bottomless pit and release (Revelation 9:1-16, the fifth and sixth trumpet judgments) 200 million evil angels who will be cast upon the Earth, killing another third of the population. Approximately half of the Earth’s population would now still be alive. This is as it relates to people across the Earth that are not Jewish.
Regarding Jewish people, in Zechariah 13:8, it says that two out of every three Jews will be killed. This would be the worst Holocaust ever to hit the Earth. At the present population of approximately 12 million Jews on the Earth, about 8 million will be killed.
The numbers killed is not the most important thing, but that it will be a terrible time of judgment. When the Tribulation Period unfolds, it will be a dastardly time on this Earth. Satan will be endeavoring to do whatever he can to win the people to follow him and worship and obey him.
The purpose of the Tribulation is to bring the Jew to Jesus Christ. When Jews are being killed, they are going to turn to Christ during that time. The one third that are left (Zechariah 13:9) will come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Another purpose of the Tribulation period is to bring an end to those who would be considered the Satanic trinity, which would be Satan, Antichrist, and the False Prophet.
Do whatever you can to warn people who have not received Christ as Lord and Savior – they will go through the Tribulation period unless they receive Christ. It’s important that we understand what is going to happen so that we can win people to Jesus Christ.
