Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!
The Lord wants us to know what will happen in the End Times. He gives the men who wrote prophecy in God’s Word the information that is going to happen in the End Times.
- One reason is so that we will live purely. When God chose Titus to assist him in his ministry, He told Titus to lay aside ungodly lusts and live soberly, godly, and righteously. Paul finishes with the statement to look for the blessed hope of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is difficult to live purely in the times in which we are living since we are bombarded by Satanic activities. Satan is like a roaring lion, seeing whom he can devour. To live purely, look for the return of Jesus Christ to come at any moment.
- It guides you to a better understanding of God’s Word. The Bible is full of information about a kingdom to come. The main theme in God’s Word from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22 is the kingdom to come. Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Our Father, which art in heaven, Thy will be done, Thy kingdom come on Earth as it is in heaven.” He talks of an Earthly kingdom that is coming. If you don’t have the proper eschatology, you won’t understand this. The Kingdom is to give honor and glory to Jesus Christ. Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” We are not here for our own pleasure and glory but for His. If we don’t understand how things are going to work out, we won’t understand the Bible unless you have a proper, biblical, literal eschatology.
- It gives authority to the Word of God and assurance that the Lord is in charge. When I see what is going to happen in Scripture and what is happening in the world today in light of that, I see that He is in charge and that He is still there to make certain that everything happens the way He planned.
- It gives us an urgency to win our loved ones to Jesus Christ.
