Is Matthew 24:41-42 About the Rapture?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

Matthew 24:40-42 says, “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.  Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” In verse 37 of the Olivet Discourse, Jesus Christ tells His people, the ones who were gathered with him on the Mount of Olives the Monday before He was crucified, and concludes the discourse with these words, “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

This verse is key to understanding what this is referring to. Verses 38-39 says, “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered in to the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the son of man be.” The ones taken at the flood were the lost people. There were only Noah’s family left (8 people) who were able to sustain life for over a year, experiencing a worldwide flood. The ones taken were taken to judgment (Luke 17) and died because of their sin and lack of belief. Verses 41 and 42 are not talking about the Rapture of the church but of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
