Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!
Revelation 13:2 states, “And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.” This refers to the prophecy in the Book of Daniel happening. The animals, a leopard, bear, and lion, are what Daniel 7 referred to as the Gentile world powers, and the Antichrist comes out of that.
Regarding the dragon, Revelation 12:9 says, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.” The dragon gives power to the Antichrist and his seat of great authority. I don’t see him coming out of the bottomless pit.
Revelation 13 says “as it were” which introduces an apocalyptic passage. This one who was being worshiped as it were in verse 3 – “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.” God uses a symbol to communicate an absolute truth. “As it were wounded to the death” refers to Antichrist, the male human being, will not be killed because Satan does not have the capability of resurrecting somebody from the dead, but he does have the capability of healing. Satan heals this one who was wounded as it were to death. He can’t raise Judas Iscariot from the dead; he has been dead for almost 2,000 years.
Antichrist will be a personality on the world scene at the time of the Rapture who becomes the Antichrist. He will be energized by Satan, receive his power, seat of authority, and everything he needs to accomplish the goal of Satan and the Antichrist.
