When Does the War Between Gog and Magog and Israel Take Place?

Welcome to Prophecy Q & A with Jimmy DeYoung!

The Battle of Gog and Magog in Ezekiel 38 deals with an alignment or coalition of nations.  You have to combine two other passages of Scripture.  We talked about Daniel 11:40-45 which mentions Syria and Egypt. Ezekiel 38:2 and 6 talks about Russia (Magog) and modern-day Turkey. Ezekiel 38:5 talks about Persia (Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran), Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and Libya.   Psalm 83 mentions the Ishmaelites, which would be modern-day Saudi Arabia and Tyre (or Lebanon).

All of these nations will align themselves to try and wipe out the Jewish people.  They will do this after the time that the antichrist has confirmed a peace agreement. He does that in Daniel 9:27. That starts the clock ticking on the Tribulation period, after the rapture of the church. The rapture of the church takes place, the revived Roman Empire comes into existence, the antichrist is brought onto the world’s scene, and then he confirms a peace treaty with Israel and her neighbors.  That is the time that the Battle of Gog and Magog takes place. It’s after the rapture of the church and probably within the first six months of the Tribulation period.

Ezekiel 38:8 tells us that the Jewish people will be dwelling safely in the land when the battle takes place.  It also says in verse 11 that they will be living in unwalled villages. They will believe that their Messiah (a false Messiah) will come.  This is when the nations attack. The Muslim world at that point is wiped out. This is key because only then can the antichrist continue his activities in Rome, Italy, where he has a false church together.

Jimmy DeYoung was a prophecy teacher and journalist who travelled the country and the world educating the Body of Christ of the future events foretold in God’s prophetic Word. His goal was to equip Christians with the knowledge and understanding of what God’s Word says will happen someday soon, so that they can make better decisions today. Dr. DeYoung went home to be with his Savior on August 15, 2021.
