JD: The Islamic State of course the taking out of Al-Baghdadi now they have named a new leader. What do we know about this guy?
KT: Well he’s a former bossest military officer and his name is Al-Qurayshi. He’s just the next person who is assuming this leadership role. We don’t know much about him personally. He’s been around in ISIS for quite some time. But ISIS will continue to nominate new people to head their organization for as long as they have fighters in the field. We need to understand in the West this is a generational conflict and we might want to declare victory and go home as President Trump is trying to do.
JD: Well there was an article in a magazine that you have written articles for a number of times, Front Page Magazine, and the title of the article “A Dead Caliph but Eternal Jihad”. That’s basically what you’re saying isn’t it?
KT: That’s right. This Jihad is going to go on for as long as you have what we’d like to call radical creatures but they’re actually not radical creatures. These are main stream Muslim ideologues who go back to the teachings of Mohammed and to the Quran. They hold up their book and say their book justifies everything that they’re doing; kill the infidel where ever you can find him, establish the eternal caliphate. It is not a perversion of Islamic doctrine that is the problem. This is a core Islamic doctrine. They don’t go back and revise the application of their original documents. They look at the way it was interpreted at the time of Mohammed and anyone who dares to stray from that interpretation is committing a heresy.
JD: Ken Timmerman with details on the new leader of Islamic State and the fact that the radical Islamic State fighters continue on as terrorists.
