JD: John talk to me about what the European Union is saying about Israel at 71 years of age.
JR: We see that there’s a very distinct parallel Jimmy between Israeli statehood in 1948 and the beginnings of the European Union are actually concurrent. So often times we look back and we say 1957 is the beginning of the European Economic Community. In 1958 the Treaty of Rome which of course is also a reference to the ancient Roman Empire. In 1950 going backwards we have the Schuman Declaration which was the beginning of the coal and steel agreement between France and Germany which as seen at the beginning of today’s European Union. And then 1949, May 5th, so this is very close within one year, that’s when the Council of Europe was founded.
