Alcohol is tolerated by many today, even in the church. Yet it is powerful, and addicting. I heard a preacher I respected use this following quote, but I wasn’t sure the statistic was accurate so I had to look it up myself. Official numbers from the US Department of Health & Human Services confirm it:
1 out of every 3 people who have ever drank alcohol will be drunk this month

Paul takes this issue very seriously:
But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a….drunkard….with such an one no not to eat.
1 Corinthians 5:11
So is there any hope for the one enslaved to alcohol?
Daniel Whittle shares another account from the 1857 Prayer Meeting Revival, deliverance from alcohol.
“Sometime ago I wrote to you for my husband. He was a victim to strong drink at that time, but blessed be God, he has not drank one drop for five months.”
