At the University of Arizona, anti-white racism and leftist radicalism are running rampant. Professor Nolan Cabrera’s recent claims about white students being the “primary perpetrators” of racial segregation on college campuses is a perfect example of the left’s ongoing obsession with identity politics. Campus Reform reported that in his book Whiteness in the Ivory Tower, Cabrera blames white students for what he sees as racial segregation, suggesting that fraternities, sororities, and religious groups are responsible for creating racially homogenous environments. Yet, as usual, the real problem is being willfully ignored.
Instead of fostering unity or genuine dialogue, Cabrera is perpetuating a divisive narrative that paints one race as the villain. By accusing white students of maintaining segregation, he conveniently overlooks the self-segregation seen in many minority organizations. If a group of white students gathers together, it’s labeled as problematic. But if other groups do the same, it’s celebrated as cultural pride. This double standard is at the heart of Cabrera’s argument, yet it is never addressed.
His flippant remark that “White History Month goes by the names of January, March, April, etc.” only reinforces his disdain for Western civilization and its contributions. The narrative that systemic racism is inherent in American society and that “whiteness” is to blame for every social ill has become standard in academia. Cabrera’s critique is nothing new—it’s part of the broader left-wing agenda to vilify white students and impose guilt upon them for simply existing in these spaces.
What’s truly harmful is the environment this ideology creates on campuses. Instead of encouraging open dialogue and understanding, Cabrera’s rhetoric fosters further division. As one University of Arizona student put it, “This ideology is harmful to everyone and will create an even greater divide.” And that’s precisely what the radical left seems to want—division, not unity.
